Weekly Photo Challenge: Solitary

Dear Karen,

I read about WordPress’ Weekly Photo Challenge and thought…hey, I can actually join this week!

I took this photo at a supermarket in Toronto, called Loblaw’s. The building they’re in used to be the Maple Leaf Gardens, home of many exciting hockey games, like this one:

The Maple Buds in action

I guess time moves on and a larger arena was needed, so now the team plays (and loses) somewhere else. No doubt their new home has a corporate name, which is why I can’t remember it. I do remember the Gardens, even though I wasn’t a Leafs fan in my youth. For me, it was the Habs all the way, not least because I had a huge crush on Guy Lafleur, either. Montreal was just the superior team, in my opinion. Guy’s dreaminess is not to be denied, though.

Anyway, I was in Loblaw’s with Gilly and Bongo, and we placed him on what was Centre Ice, took his photo, and am-scrayed outta there.

Bongo has his own story, his own post, and I won’t go into it now when you can read about it here. Suffice it to say, he is a monkey alone in the world, patiently waiting for his boy to come find him. He is in the centre, but life moves around him, unheeding, uncaring and shopping for high-quality curry and chilli sauces. I’m quite a philosopher, don’t you think?

I’m feeling all emotional now. Poor Bongo, will he ever find his way back home?

Tearily yours,

Wendy

  1. We were just at that Loblaws in the summer – trip for my daughter’s birthday. We ate all our meals there. Bought cupcakes there. It was great! And yes, poor Bongo! My oldest son has a friend named Bongo.

    • I have a feeling your BooBoo is with my daughter’s cat, who has the disturbingly similar name of Boo. Is this a case of the monkeynapper taking on her victim’s identity? I think so.
Next time I’m in Toronto, I’ll check for yours as well.
